Healthy Living
Healthy Living refers to the conscious measures taken to establish and maintain physical and mental health. This can easily be achieved by managing diet, exercise and other lifestyle factors including stress, smoking and alcohol consumption.

In this day and age, the increased availability of cheap energy-dense fast food options promotes poor dietary choices, leading to the onset of obesity and its co-morbidities (Type 2 diabetes, stroke, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and cancer). Therefore, it is important to consume a wide range of healthy alternatives including fruits, vegetables, dairy products, lean meats, grains and healthy fats. Making small changes in your diet can go a long way; for example, substituting sugar-loaded soft drinks for water or reducing your daily salt intake. Our suggestion is not to completely remove fatty and unhealthy foods from your diet; instead we advise that these foods be consumed in moderation. In the long term, these minor changes will significantly improve your lifestyle.
Exercise is also a vital part of a healthy living. Low-impact activities such as swimming, walking, yoga or cycling can help improve energy levels, mood, health conditions and sleeping patterns. These non-strenuous activities are not only beneficial for your body, but they can also be fun.
Minimising stress and alcohol consumption is also important to achieve a healthy lifestyle. Prolonged stress can cause agitation, moodiness, eating problems and impact negatively on mental health. On the other hand, chronic alcohol consumption can result in seizures, cardiovascular disease, cirrhosis and even some cancers. Thus, it is important that alcohol is consumed in moderation.
Smoking is a serious lifestyle factor to be considered. It has been strongly associated with illnesses and fatality; studies are estimating that 1 in 3 cancer related deaths are due to smoking. Thus, we vehemently advise against smoking.
A healthy lifestyle is important for everyone, not just those individuals affected by cancer or other life threatening diseases. We encourage healthy eating and exercise to achieve an overall healthy mind and body.
